The O3/PMS system has appeared as an effective wastewater treatment method because of the simultaneous generation hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and sulfate (SO4•−). Many research achievements have been made on degradation micropollutants reaction mechanism system. However, integral understanding is lacking, which limits development safe AOP-based water schemes. Therefore, in this review, effects, toxicity changes, mechanisms various are reviewed. formation oxidation by-products (OBPs) important issue that affects practical application systems. control methods OBPs overviewed. In addition, influence different conditions comprehensively evaluated. Finally, future needs proposed based limited systems OBPs. Specifically, rules several kinds during not completely clear yet. Furthermore, pilot-scale research, operational costs, sustainability, general feasibility also need to be studied. This review can offer a comprehensive assessment fill knowledge gap provide guidance for engineering applications Through effort, better developed turned towards applications.
